Brunhilde - Character Spotlight

Image
Giant support, Giant songs and Giant damage Even as other giants go, Brunhilde is an incredibly powerful one in melee. Although Loubard may have a better damage potential when given a myriad of buffs, it is Brunhilde who will be the best equipped for dealing damage at the start of the turn. Firstly, 'Giant-forged blades' increase  damage by +2 for  slicing and piercing damage, but not impact. However, the only impact damage cards can also be used as slicing or piercing, so this will only ever be an issue in extremely specific situations where an opponent  reduces only slicing or only piercing damage. As well as +2 damage on  what is essentially  nearly all attacks, Brunhilde has an excellent, for a giant, 4 melee. Whilst this is only 1 above Loubard and Gotchgut, the extra 1 melee card means she will far more reliably crit and a good crit with +2 damage is usually enough to kill most models in the game. In addition to this excellent damage output, Brunhilde...

Dim & Dimmer - Character Spotlight

Image
Dumb and Dumber Of the four giants currently in the game, Dim and Dimmer can feel a bit of an oddball. Unlike his other massive mates, Dim and Dimmer doesn't have one straightforward obvious use or strength. When compared with the other giants, he has the lowest damage output of them all! What he does have though is a bizarre mix of esoteric abilities which grant him very unique ways of tackling many different problems. The first of these abilities explains his rather pathetic base energy of 1. 'Constantly Bickering' means Dim and Dimmer must flip an arcane card as soon as he activates and gain X energy, or suffer 3wds on a catastrophe. In isolation, this is a neat little ability that will keep him at an average of roughly 2 energy and will every so often give him more energy than the average giant. When applied to certain specific situations though the ability offers so much more. If playing against faeries, goblins or someone else who can drain energy this ability offer...

Fantastic Monsters and How to Field Them - Monster Strategy

Image
Throughout moonstone, giant and troll models have always been present. Starting with just Gotchgut the giant and Boulder the troll the game has now expanded to four such giants and three trolls. With this in mind there is now a myriad of options should you wish to add some more muscle to your troupe. More excitingly is the option of troupes based around these monsters is now a real possibility. Giants Gotchgut The original giant, Gotchgut has some very straight forward but powerful abilities. Like most monsters Gotchgut has an increased melee damage output, armour to reduce incoming damage and a slew of wounds. These last two qualities are especially useful for Gotchgut as they work well in tangent with his main ability, 'Bodyguard'. Exclusive to only giants so far, 'Bodyguard' allows Gotchgut to absorb damage that any noble nearby  takes . For Commonwealth, this can be great for models such as Kaufman and Young Jack, whilst in Dominion, The Beast and Diana can be...
