Jayda - Character Spotlight

Image
Often times better than the master of one Jayda is without a shadow of a doubt one of the most flexible models in the game. Aside from healing, Jayda can try her hand at pretty much any facet of the game. Need some melee damage? She boasts a respectable 4 melee, +1 piercing damage and fantastic signature. Need a long-range damage dealer? She can 'Shoot Bow'. Need a harvester? 4 non-weakling energy and two passive abilities which augment her movement will sort that! But how best can you make use of these abilities and potentially buff her even further? The first thing worth noting when considering Jayda's use is her status as a dual faction model. With both the Leshavult and Commonwealth symbols she can play for either of these factions and each will appreciate her in a different way. It is also the case that she will be buffed by both factions in a different way too. Generally, Lesahvult will be making the most of the fact she is a faun whilst Commonwealth will often levera...

Mooncast - Malachite Mystics (± many tangents)

Leshavult Overview & First Boxes - Starting Moonstone

Image
Leshavult Unlike dominion and commonwealth, there is less of a focus on specific races in Leshavult. Most troupes within the faction tend to have more of a focus on synergies and combos. That being said there are still some loose "Sub factions" which Leshavult can be collected and played as. Firstly, the fauns and animals who zip around at impressive speeds, full of energy. In contrast to this, the spirits and cultists generally play a slower methodical game, relying on arcane deck manipulation and other esoteric abilities and combos.  Irrespective of the sub-faction in question, Leshavult models are generally very flimsy and have excellent energy manipulation. Animals & Fauns Difficulty: Medium Evasion and speed are the main tricks of the fauns and the animals. With more movement tricks than most, the fauns and animals can ensure they can be where they want as quickly as possible. This is also helped by their access to some energy manipulation. This comes in the form of ...

The Leader, The Warrior and The Toodles - Hunting Horns Troupe & Wendigo Strategy

Image
The first of its kind, hunting horns is a dual faction troupe box split exclusively between the Commonwealth and the Leshavult. With Hoff, a heavy emphasis would seem to be on Faun traited models. However, Jayda and Toodles don't have trait specific abilities and can happily lend themselves to any list with their well rounded abilities. In addition to this, Wendigo is also a new Faun to join the Leshavult who will work exceedingly well alongside the new faun leader. So how do all these new commonwealth fauns operate and how does the Wendigo play? Hoff Hoff continues a subtheme of characters in moonstone such as Diana, El Capitano and Mama Gimble to name a few. The subtheme of 'Hero' characters who can build entire lists around them by buffing and manipulating certain traits in the game. Hoff himself turns his attention to the faun trait and buffs them primarily in the movement and melee department. With 'Guerilla tactician' Hoff will grant swift and an additional ca...

Boris, Bunnies and Beasts - Animal Troupe Spotlight

Image
I've recently seen a lot of love for the new Leshavult model, Boris the Bunny Summoner. I've also been wanting to write about one of my favourite troupe compositions from my time playtesting the Leshavult. Luckily, both of these happily coincide with each other. So without further ado, let's crack on with the Leshavults furry friends.  Whispering to Wild Things The crux of the Leshavult animal list is the hypermobility one model can gain and the huge energy spikes one or two models can achieve as well. To this end, Gloom will likely make an appearance in every such list due to one very powerful active ability. With 'Whisper to the wild things' animal traited models can be catapulted up the board to wreak havoc on unsuspecting models. Alternatively, Jackalopes and Beast's can be pulled out of dangerous positions or retreated when they are carrying precious moonstones. In a pinch, it can also, of course, be used to move murder bunnies around. Whilst a...
